National Indoor Soccer League Officially Launched

ATLANTA,  GA – The National Indoor Soccer League has been formed and will kick off its inaugural season this December ushering in a new era of Professional Indoor Soccer.

The NISL, breaking away from the past traditional leagues, will be the first professional indoor soccer league that will operate both a Men’s and Women’s Division, hosting “doubleheaders” on each gameday at its respective arenas in each market.

“Our vision is to offer professional opportunities for both men and women and showcase those talents with two games at each NISL arena every night we play,” explained NISL Special Consultant Brian Roth, who has worked in Executive roles for teams in the National Professional Soccer League, Major League Soccer, Major Indoor Soccer League and Major Arena Soccer League. “I’m extremely passionate about indoor soccer and have enjoyed the men’s play over the years and will continue to do so for years to come. I also know our Women’s Division will be equally exciting and competitive. With the recent boon in Women’s Soccer in the United States, we feel there is a plethora of available players who can play at the professional level, and the NISL will be a great platform for players to apply their trade.”

The NISL is committed to keeping the length of each game to two hours or less to maximize the fan experience and maintain appropriate timelines for television broadcasts.  There will be a 30-minute intermission between games on each gameday.

Before the first ball has ever kicked and before team markets have been announced, the NISL has already landed a major partner with NIKE as its “Official Uniform, Apparel, and Accessory Brand” for the first five years of the league’s existence. This is the first time that NIKE will outfit an entire professional indoor soccer league in the U.S.

“When we first started discussions on launching the NISL, we all agreed that we wanted the league to provide great support for its member teams, and also provide new revenue streams, ways to maximize budgets, and a high level of consistency throughout the entire league.  We’ve got a great start with a half dozen league wide partners already, and more will be coming.  For the league to be successful, its important that we do everything we can to put our member teams in the best position to succeed", said NISL Executive Board Member Andrew Haines.

Kendis Industries is the “Official Ball Supplier” of the NISL and the league will bring back an iconic look for the official game balls.  Kendis has long been a supporter of indoor soccer and produced game balls for the American Indoor Soccer Association and National Professional Soccer League in the 1980s and 1990s.  The NISL will use the same design for its official balls.

The NISL is partnering with Soccer Master, based in St. Louis, MO, as the league’s “Official Retailer.” With six retail stores throughout Missouri, Illinois, Kansas, and Iowa, Soccer Master is one of the largest soccer specialty retailers in the United States. Soccer Master focuses on “Team Sales” and provides top name brand gear to teams and clubs across the country. Established in 1978, Soccer Master is owned and operated by former professional soccer goalkeeper, David Brcic, and his wife Cindy.  Brcic played in both the NASL, MISL, and the U.S. Men’s National Team.

"We are thrilled with the NISL’s decision to field a men’s and women’s division with both teams playing on the same night.  Not only will there be great competition, doubleheaders each night, but the ability to field two teams with the same schedule will help keep expenses down for each market. Men’s professional indoor soccer has been around for awhile, but this is the first time a women’s professional indoor soccer league will be introduced in the United States.  Women’s soccer is gaining in popularity and there are an estimated 30 million women playing soccer worldwide. The impact that these professional athletes will have on the young women in their communities is tremendous", said NISL Executive Board Member Joshua Blair.

The NISL already has commitments from four markets for the upcoming season.  Expansion opportunities are available and interested parties can visit NISLPRO.com for more information. The league has been closing deals with markets and arenas and will announce its first Cities and Teams in the coming weeks.
